Fred Huntress Honored by ACF

New England Forestry Consultants, Inc. is proud to announce that Fred Huntress, senior Vice President, has been awarded the prestigious Distinguished Forester Award by the Association of Consulting Foresters of America, Inc. (ACF)

The Distinguished Forester Award is given to only those foresters who exemplify outstanding contributions to forestry and to ACF.  This encompasses their contributions to the application of forestry on private lands, to the advancement of the profession, to private ownership of forestlands, and to the ACF.  This award is restricted to 25 voting members of which there are approximately 650.  In order to be considered for this award, a rigorous screening process takes place and the decision to bestow this award is made by the entire membership.

A list of Fred's contributions to forestry and private property rights would take significantly more space than this entire newsletter.  He has taken the lead in educating the public and public officials concerning the practice of forestry and property rights.  He has served as a board member and/or officer of a number of organizations such as the Small Woodland Owners' Association of Maine, the Northern Forest Council Citizen Advisory Committee, Association of Consulting Foresters, Poland Spring Selectboard, and Poland Spring Zoning Review Committee.

All of us at NEFCo are extremely proud of Fred and believe that the ACF could not have bestowed this award on a better candidate.  Fred serves as a mentor to all of the NEFCo staff and we are all honored to be associated with him.
